OBU-Onslow vs Paramata-Plimerton

OBU-Onslow finished the JC bowl round off superbly with a 30 point to nil win over Paramata-Plimerton at Nairnville Park. This was the first game of the season where OBU-Onslow had secured a four try bonus point and there were many other tries that went begging.

Playing at Nairnville for the first game in the season and with the new jerserys OBU-Onslow took the lead with two early penalties. They streched out further with a push over try to Ben Whaanga.

As the wind got stronger in the second half so did OBU-Onslow play. The forwards had some great pick and goes around the ruck and maul, which created space for the packs.

The build up to Ryan’s try was huge and simple draw and pass’s had Ryan running into a massive gap where he dotted down without a hand laid on him.

Willie showed great determination to score his try, it seemed he was tackled 10 meters out however he kept moving and barged over for the third try. Shane finished the game off with a fine try on the left flank.

Moment of the match: Ryan’s try in the second half was a game breaker for Para-Plim. They realised that the wind advantage they had would do nothing up against a team that wanted the game more.

Man of the match: Ben Nielson had a barnstorming game on the wing. Getting more ball in one game than he had all season was not only credit to his work rate but also the 14 other guys that gave him the opportunity.

Dick of the Day: Hard to fault anyone in such a good game. However after a quick tap Devos threw a brick forward and over the line when Josh was open on the wing. Jerome and Pete B were guilty of ignoring a huge overlap and went for the line when two try’s went begging. And finally Whaanga got hit by the invisible man on the last play of the day and knocked the ball on!
