It was a fine day with pretty good underfoot conditions as OBU took on Petone at kelburn Park. Low player numbers at training were followed on by limited reserves on the bench, however that didn't stop OBU getting off to a good start.
Some excellent tactical kicking by both Shane, Scott and Ben Bakker at the back meant that the pressure was on petone from the start. The foward pack was again in dominant form being led by stand in skipper Jerome. Good ruck security allowed for some quick ball out back on attack and some good running rugby. Indiscretions by Petone at ruck time resulted in penalties being awarded and converted by Shane who continues his great form with the boot.
Some nice foward work ended up with a try to Thurston later on in the game. OBU dug deep to hold out some strong petone surges but in the end held on for the 16 to 10 win.
Player of the match: none this week but a great effort by all the lads resulting in a great win.
