Yet another home game transferred, OBU found themselves playing at Porirua Park 4!
With several key players missing, OBU were short on the sidelines. It must be the first time all season that the backs had more reserves then the forwards! It didn't make things any better when when changes were made again because Arthur was still not right to play. It moved Jerome back into lock, Robbie to 8, and Gaz ended up jumping into 6.
Poneke did not dominate the entire game even though the score may look as though they did, there were periods of play where the boys strung some good periods of play together, but playing a team like the Dogs they are a good counter attacking team and always seem to play off other teams mistakes. They twice score from mistakes, but were also very strong in their mauling, were they twice scored off two runners peeling off from the maul down the blind side and scoring in the corner.
It was fair to say that the ground transfer and the shortage of players meant the boys were thrown out a bit, but it is our first lost in the second round, and it is now up the lads to bounce back and win against HOBM.
