OBU-Onslow vs MSP Red

It was a bright and sunny afternoon in our nations capital as the troops of OBU Onslow marched in limited numbers to Martin Luckie Park and their encounter with the evil dooleys MSP Red. Due to a spate of injuries (some self inflicted) and the wedding of Mr Shigeeda (congratulations from the boys) squad numbers had dwindled down to 16.

A good start saw the OBU pressuring the MSP line in the first quarter. A penalty was awarded and slotted with ease by kicker Shane Binnie. Unfortunately this was followed by a weak try to MSP.

The OBU forward pack continued to pile on the pressure with another extended visit to the MSP 22. An attempted clearance kick from MSP did not find touch and fell into the hands of the OBU winger on the 22. The winger was given free space to run and was held just short of the line however the prompt arrival of the forwards enabled a successful drive over the line and the try was scored.

Feeling the effects of the limited squad OBU failed to continue as they started out. MSP were gifted 2 tries in quick succession after OBU attacks broke down in the midfield. As the game wore on both teams began to slow and a grinding forwards battle ensued. One further try was scored by MSP and the match was completed.

Fortunately the points won by MSP in this encounter were lost due to their illegal fielding of an overweight player.

Man of the Match: Robbie Taylor, as usual an uncompromising effort from this tireless #6, plenty of ball carries and a solid effort in defense.

Dick of the day: No stand outs from the OBU squad however probably justified giving this award to the overweight prop from MSP who was warned plenty of times not to take the field before doing so and gifting these hard earned points to the OBU boys.

Filthy Player: (cant remember) but probably a deserving candidate off home with a audio visual treat curtsy of united video.

Casualties: None in this game however it is worth a mention that the big ginger (Ben Bakker) was forced to the sideline due to 100g weight breach.

Scorers:
Try: Peter Bakker
Penalty: Shane Binnie
